Stoilovo is located at 8 km. to the north of Malko Tarnovo. With extremely interesting flora, fauna and rock formations the hamlet is on of the top ecotorisym location in Bulgaria. It is perched on a hill between Veleka and Aidere rivers. Typical Strandja architecture is preserved. Impressing hikes towards “Veleka” river, “Malko Tarnovo”, “Brashlyan”, “Petrova niva”. This is an attractive territory with many steep slopes and rock formations on the right bank of the river Aidere.
The village of Stoilovo treasures a number of old Strandjan houses. Interesting sites of interest in the village:
The “St. Iliya” Church – some of the oldest altar gates, dated back to the XVII century are to be found in the church. The shortest route to the Petrova niva place (1 hour of walking) starts from the village. The craft of basket making is still preserved in the village of Stoilovo today. The beautiful Dokuzak waterfall, on the river of the same name, is located near the village. The river takes its source from nine Karst springs. There is a tourist shelter and a plash near the village. |
