Set amid a picturesque Czech village, is among the most beautiful chateaus in the Czech Republic.
Situated at the legendary meeting place of Prince of Bohemia, Oldrich and Bozena, Zamek Peruc is a magical, romantic and beautiful place. Next to the building is the famous well where this most romantic of stories was said to have taken place. In the park that surrounds the building, stands Oldrych’s Oak, a magnificent 1000 year old tree.
Inside the chateau, there is a lavish grand staircase which is the heart of the building and once restored to its former glory would be the ideal setting for weddings and private events.
The chateau contains around 60 fireplaces and statues by the famous Czech sculptor I F Platzer, who is best known for the magnificent gladiatorial statues at the gates of Prague castle. During the summer, a gallery celebrating the work of Emil Fila, the celebrated Czech artist inspired by the beauty of Peruc and its idyllic surrounding countryside is open. Fila was a one time resident of the chateau.
A superb investment, in need of internal renovation, this would make an ideal hotel or relax centre. There is also likely to be significant EU funding for reconstruction and development as a viable business project as the chateau falls just inside the district of Ústí nad Labem.
The chateau was saved by the current owner from certain destruction. The facade of the building has been restored, beams in the ceilings were replaced, roof beams were reinforced and roof tiles exchanged for new, the roof has been repaired to prevent further rain damage to the building and new air draining channels have been dug in the foundations, protecting the building for any further neglect and the ravages of time. The ceiling of the main room awaits the renovation, metal construction support the ceiling at the moment. The rest of the ceilings in the chateau which were affected by the previous leak are secured against the sagging and await further repairs.
Location wise, Peruc is 45 minutes from Prague and 20 minutes from Prague airport on the direction towards Germany.
