Along the channel is a very nice and green area .The noise of birds tweeting is louder than the traffic. With the friendly support of Google Earth: a bird’s eye view of the former “Kunstmöbelfabrik und autischlerei F.Wenkel” with its brick red hipped roofs on the left and right sides of the building. There are modern, wellmaintained apartment buildings on the opposite (southern) side of the street, which is a one-way-street in this area. Above right you can see the flat roof of a children’s day-care centre. To the left, the wide course of the Teltow Canal coming from Grünau, which links the Dahme with Potsdamer Havel. The furniture factory was constructed in 1904 and the canal opened two years later. Nature directly behind the building: The banks of the canal, lined with alders, birch and ash trees, which also nest many oscine birds such as nightingales
and warblers. To the right is the old factory, slightly hidden behind trees. The canal pathways (picture below) are closed to traffic and may only be used by pedestrians and cyclists.
