Within the conservation area (this does not include the sea front which has slightly different planning regulations) the following is a list some Do's and Don'ts..
a) One may build up to 3 floors, ground, first, second. b) The third floor roof may be converted in to a roof terrace as long as not more than a 1/3rd of the total floor area is covered. c)Walls on roof terrace not to be higher than 1 metre. d)Use tile or makuti (tiles preferred because of fire hazards). e)High ceilings preferred but not to exceed 3 metres.
