Very pretty, traditional house in Ano Vathy hidden in the cobbled winding streets of this ancient town. The house which is set over two storeys has very thick stone walls which make it cool in the summer and easily heated in winter. It is one of the very few properties in the village in Ano Vathi which has a garden. This provides a private area for sunbathing or barbequing and is planted with lemon and mandarin trees which offer welcome shade from the summer sun. The views from the house and courtyard are of open sea, Samos Town below and the surrounding mountains. Entering the house through the courtyard, the upstairs has a lounge and dining area which like the rest of the house is furnished with Samos furniture. It has an open fireplace with wood burning stove which heats the house in winter. In the summer the cross ventilation from the dual aspect shuttered windows ensures that the room doesn’t get too hot. The kitchen and bedroom area are downstairs which is the coolest area in summer and is reached by a winding wooden staircase. The bathroom is separate with a WC, basin and a shower over the bath. |
