 TARPON SPRINGS: Along the Gulf of Mexico, Tarpon Springs is 20 miles north of Tampa and St. Petersburg, two cosmopolitan cities totaling close to a million inhabitants. Two international airports, about 18 miles away, Tampa International and St. Petersburg/Clearwater International, offer direct flights to major US cities, Canada, and Europe: for instance, British Air flies direct between London, England, and Tampa . Both airports offer 24-hour door-to-door shuttle and limousine transportation.
Tarpon Springs is built around waterways, lakes, parcs, and beautiful “bayous”. It also boasts large sandy beaches along the Gulf of Mexico such as lovely Sunset Beach and Howard Park.
Dating back to 1887, Tarpon Springs is the oldest city in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area and its Greek heritage makes it unique in the United States. Residents of Tarpon Springs also have easy access to the great hotels, shopping, dining, and entertainment provided by the Tampa Bay area, in particular St. Petersburg world-class museums, such as the Salvador Daly Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Florida Holocaust Museum, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (the largest arts facility south of Washington, D.C.), as well as the unspoilt beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, in particular St. Pete’s Beach presided over by the luxurious and picturesque Don Caesar Resort and Spa.
