Pulau Panjang is an Indonesian island in located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain (Nusa Tenggara), with Bali and Lombok to the west, Flores to the east, and Sumba further to the southeast. It is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara.
The island is located in the Saleh Bay (Teluk Saleh); connected to the Bali Sea, part of the Pacific Ocean, bordering the Indian Ocean. Due to the fact that the island is located in the Saleh Bay it is protected by natural hazards like tsunamis.
Pulau Panjang (lit. Long Island) is 33HA (330000 sqm) in size and consists of 3 higher situated parts interconnected by lower parts.
Palm trees, grass and a variety of other vegetation, beautiful white beaches and crystal clear water makes this island the idyllic hideaway.
The higher parts of the Island are surrounded with deep water suitable for large ships to reach the Island, while the beaches are perfect for swimming, diving, windsurfing, and fishing.
The nearest village is Santong situated in the Santong Bay (Teluk Santong) at 15 Km. The airport of Sumbawa is situated in Sumbawa Besar, 90 Km from the island.
The use of the Island is unrestricted. There are no limits to facilities except the height of the buildings. The building of a heli-platform is possible and allowed which will guarantee fast and comfortable transportation to and from the Island via Sumbawa Besar or Bali.
