Why Maio? Maio has all of the necessary ingredients to be the last paradise for tourists: long stretches of white sandy beaches accenting a vivid blue sea and sky untouched by pollution. (Due to government restrictions, land cannot be owned directly on the beach front.) Cape Verdes are volcanic in nature as are the CANARY ISLANDS, their neighbors to the north. Location VILA'S proximity to the airport is restricted by law from growing northward. This greatly hampers its expansion to the island's growth areas. To the left, seaward is the TOURIST DEVELOPMENT ZONE and at the heart of this zone (3km from Vila, surrounded by a 1 meter stone fence) is the property (in an area known as FUNCHAGO), a large 150,000 meter tract (5 football fields long and 3 wide).
The Beach Several hundred meters west of the property is the pollution-free, blue-green sea with the widest, most magnificent, virginal expanse of white sand beach found anywhere in the world.
