Nine guest rooms, all with bathrooms, operating as a bed & breakfast and boutique hotel. 2 dining rooms have a seating capacity of 75 and a patio with additional seating for 40-50. Saloon has a seating capacity of approximately 20 – 22 in addition to the front desk area. Lunch and dinner are served daily with brunch on Sundays. Mediterranean cuisine is featured on the dinner menu. Regular restaurant clientele come from a distance up to 1 hour away, which includes Calaveras County, and the San Joaquin Valley cities of: Merced, Turlock, Modesto, Manteca & Stockton. Lodging clientele come predominately from: San Francisco Bay Area, San Joaquin Valley, Monterey Bay and Southern California. All plumbing, electrical, insulation and woodwork are in excellent condition. The main structure dates mostly from 1927, which was damaged due to fire at that time. This portion includes: 2 dining rooms, saloon & front desk, basement, bathrooms, commercial kitchen, walk-in, wait stations and office. The rear addition includes the dishwash area, pantry, chef’s office, storage and employee bath and dates from 1985-86. The manager’s apartment, workshop, wine storage, liquor storage and storage room dates from the latter 1800’s, with recent restoration/remodel work in 2006. Non-mandatory sprinkler systems are active throughout the hotel and are in the process (2007) of being installed on the ground floor. Saloon/registration area has 9 bar stools & table seating for 12 and a hotel registration desk. The basement below the bar has a concrete floor and contains bar equipment in addition to serving as non-liquor/wine storage for the bar. Exterior of main building is kiln-dried redwood heart, over 1 ½ rigid insulation, which covers the exterior walls of approximately 10” of reinforced concrete. Windows are mostly dual-paned Anderson with 20 pane appearance. The roof of the main building is quite unusual, in that it is a metal roof, composed of copper/tin alloys. Does not rust and would be quite expensive to install today. Cooling systems are ducted evaporative cooling, composed of 3 units, installed in 2006, and are the latest such technology using a Master Cool system.
The nine guest rooms are restored to the Gold Rush era, in addition each has: private bath with tiled showers, basins, pull-chain toilets, modern heat & cooling and tv cable, rooms insulated for sound and heat and fully furnished with quality antiques. Hotel has a soaking room with large antique 2 person tub, brass fixtures, hotel balcony (built mostly out of redwood heart) & housekeeping/storage rooms, in addition to modern washing/drying equipment. The two Dining rooms have 18 tables and related furnishings, much of it antique in nature. Kitchen is modern with mostly Wolf cooking equipment and True & Traulsen refrigeration and includes: ranges with convection oven, salamander, steam table, 3 reach-ins, 2 reach-in freezers, walk-in, steamtable, pre-risnse & dishwashing station, etc.
