It was established in 1968 by a group of investors from the United States. What was originally planned as a golf course country club has now become an eco-community where residents live in harmony with the natural surroundings of the Costa Rican Jungle. The development encompasses approximately 3,000 acres along four kilometers of beaches, 800 of which are designated green zones-national wildlife and nature preserve which is woven throughout the residential and commercial areas of the community. Pegged as the perfect example of planned growth, the NCA is the only development of its kind in Costa Rica, and the only one of its size that is completely foreign owned.
