The shortest route to our destination is via Gibraltar airport, receiving daily low-cost flights from all over the UK. From Gibraltar we travel east, along the Costa del Sol to Maniva, before heading inland via Gaucin to the small town of Cortes de La Frontera (“Cortes” for short). Total journey time has been around 45 minutes.

It is also possible to arrive via Malaga airport, although the journey is longer, passing through Marbella then inland. Definitely the “scenic route” taking approximately 90 minutes with plenty of bends in the road! Cortes lies on a gentle hill in one of the most beautiful parts of the region, overlooking a vast green valley with uninterrupted panoramic views – truly a breathtaking site which must be visited.

Cortes town centre is less than 5 minutes walk from the development. The town is small, encapsulating every aspect of “real Spain” yet enjoying the benefits of countless amenities all within walking distance.  Friendly bars and restaurants grace the town centre serving both traditional and more modern cuisine. Lunch for two people with wine/beer is likely to leave you change from £5!  The neighbouring town of Gaucin, famous for its’ “smuggler’s path” is slightly larger in size, with English/Irish residents making up around 20 of the population. As a result, useful services such as English satellite TV installations are close at hand. Gaucin also boasts a selection of English/Irish run bars and restaurants.  Ronda is the closest major town. Located approximately 20 minutes away, this cultural centre is one of the most photographed areas in southern Spain – famous for its historic battles and strategic placing on the edge of a cliff, incorporating the lovers’ gorge – the site of a tragedy of truly Shakespearean proportions.

Today Ronda is modern with world-class shopping facilities and excellent transport links with Madrid, Marbella, Malaga & Seville by rail and road. Lovers of golf will not be disappointed, there are a selection of golf courses within easy reach.
Due to its location, the development will be around less than 30 minutes from the nearest beach. A little further away, the pure white Atlantic beaches at Tarifa make for a fabulous day out and boast Europe’s best spot for windsurfing and other watersports.
