Monaco – “Grand Prix Historique” Monte Carlo

Monaco is known worldwide for Formula 1, but the principality’s motorsport calendar goes well beyond the modern Grand Prix. Every two years, a historic racing event brings together vintage racing cars spanning several decades of motorsport history, all driven on the same demanding circuit used by today’s Formula 1 field.

The event is organized around a series of races, each restricted to cars from a specific era — from pre-war grand prix machines through the various Formula 1 generations of the following decades. Some of the vehicles on display date back to the 1920s and 1930s, offering a rare chance to see genuinely historic racing machinery driven competitively rather than simply displayed behind glass.

Alongside the races themselves, the event typically includes panel discussions with figures from motorsport history, along with an auction of rare and valuable racing cars, some with real competition pedigree from decades past.

For motorsport enthusiasts, it’s a very different kind of Monaco weekend than the modern Grand Prix — less about speed records and more about the history that got the sport to where it is today.
